Road bike in the Dolomites
The road cyclist, arriving or leaving from here, will find hundreds of different itineraries of varying difficulties on the panoramic roads that run through the heart of the Dolomites.
The most popular:
- Sellaronda: it consists of a round trip around the whole of the Sella massif, and is one of the most beautiful routes in the whole Dolomite region.
The famous four passes are, the Sella Pass (2244m), the Gardena Pass (2121m), the Campolongo Pass (1875) and the Pordoi Pass (2239m).
80Km, the total height difference over the course of the route is 2100m and it alternates continuously between uphills and downhills.
- Marmolada: from Vigo you go throught all the villages of the Val di Fassa, then starts the ascent part. At the end of this difficult part you will see the magnificent Marmolada glacier and the clear sparkling waters of the artificial lake below, which is bordered by the road for 2km which runs flat before turning steeply down the other side.
After this you can come back from the same way or you can go on the other side of the mountain, to Cencenighe, than up again on the Passo San Pellegrino and down to Moena, that's the village next to Soraga and Vigo.
This is a challenging route, but at the end the satisfaction will be enormous.
90Km, duration of the course 4-5 hours
- Gardeccia: where the Giro d'Italia ends in 2011.
- Small round of the Dolomites.
Starting from the Active Hotel Olympic: Passo Carezza (1750mt), Passo Nigra (1688mt), Tires (1028mt), Castelrotto (1060mt) to Siusi (1004mt). Than you should cylce through the Val Gardena (Ortisei -1230mt) till Passo Sella (2240mt) and than to Canazei (1465mt) and at the end to Vigo.
